Frequently Asked Questions

What is Student Giving?

Each year, students have the opportunity to make a financial gift to the campus area of their choice, providing support essential to UCLA's ability to maintain its excellence. All students are asked to make a financial contribution of any size and are given an opportunity to show their support by making a gift at a Student Giving-hosted event, over the phone, online, in response to an email, or by visiting with a member of the Student Giving Committee to fill out a form and submit it in person.

Why are we being asked to make a gift? We pay student fees.

Student fees cover only eight percent of UCLA's operating budget. By making a modest gift to an area of your choice, you help ensure that when student fees run out, your classroom experience doesn't suffer!

Why should I give?

  • To keep the cost of UCLA's education low. Did you know that state contributions are only 13 percent of the operating budget?
  • To support UCLA's tradition of academic excellence
  • To leave our legacy and support future generations of Bruins

How do I give?

Where does my gift go?

You tell us! Give back to the areas of campus that mean the most to you.

Why are you calling me?

Our student callers want your support, certainly. But they also want to share with you what UCLA means to them. Whether your give $1 or $1,000, your participation connects you to the University and strengthens our Bruin family. Click here to learn more about the UCLA Student Call Center.
